Disclaimer & terms of participation

A practice space, not therapy.

The boundaries of the work, what participation means, and where to find urgent help when Human Labb is not the right service.

Last updated 17 August 2026

TL;DR

  • Human Labb is an educational practice space: not therapy, medical care, or crisis intervention.
  • We do not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition.
  • Participation is always voluntary. You can pause, pass, or leave at any time.
  • If you are in crisis, use the resources in Section 9, not a Human Labb form or email.

1 · Scope of practice & qualifications

  • Dr. Derrick Siu's qualification: Derrick holds a medical degree (MBBS, University of Queensland) and has practised medicine. His medical knowledge informs the framework, including physiology and nervous-system regulation, but he is not acting as your doctor.
  • No doctor-patient relationship: Attending a session, completing an enquiry form, taking an assessment, or using this site does not create a doctor-patient or therapeutic relationship.
  • Facilitator scope: Facilitators operate under a strictly defined framework. Their independent credentials, if any, are not exercised at Human Labb. They do not provide diagnosis, therapy, or clinical trauma treatment.

2 · What Human Labb is (and is not)

Human Labb is

  • A structured group and one-to-one practice space
  • Skills training for pattern awareness and regulation
  • Experiential, educational, and self-paced

Human Labb is not

  • Therapy, counselling, or medical treatment
  • A substitute for clinical mental-health care
  • A crisis-intervention service

On processing trauma: Exercises may involve deep excavation, including emotional or somatic release, but Human Labb does not provide clinical treatment for PTSD or mental-health disorders. If material emerges beyond our scope, we will pause and say plainly that clinical care is needed.

3 · Private (one-to-one) sessions

One-to-one sessions offer personal focus, but the boundary remains absolute:

  • Not psychotherapy: Sessions explore somatic, emotional, and behavioural patterns, but are strictly developmental.
  • Screening: Enquiry forms help us determine if this environment is safe for you right now. If you are experiencing acute crisis or recent unsupported trauma, we will decline the booking and say that appropriately qualified clinical care is needed.

4 · Assessments

Our assessments are self-reflection tools based on schema therapy, attachment research, and ACT.

  • They are not diagnostic or clinically validated instruments.
  • Results are hypotheses for self-awareness, not clinical verdicts, health records, or legal evidence.

5 · Participant responsibilities

By participating, you confirm that you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older.
  • Take full responsibility for your physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Will inform facilitators of relevant medical or physical conditions, without needing to disclose private reasons.
  • Will respect group confidentiality: what is shared in the room stays in the room.
  • Will refrain from diagnosing, treating, or giving unsolicited advice to other participants.

6 · Physicality & touch

  • Sessions may include movement, breathwork, and voice exercises. If you experience lightheadedness, stop immediately. Consult a doctor beforehand if you have cardiac, respiratory, or seizure conditions.
  • Consensual touch only: Any touch, such as a hand on a shoulder, is purely opt-in. Declining requires no explanation and carries zero consequence.

7 · Limitation of liability

  • No guarantees: We make no claims to cure, fix, or resolve specific psychological or medical conditions. Discomfort can be part of personal growth, but outcomes vary.
  • Liability: Participation is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Human Labb and its facilitators are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here excludes liability for gross negligence, personal injury, or anything that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8 · Payments & bookings Not yet live

Payments are not currently taken on this site; sessions are arranged by email after an enquiry. Whether you pay by arrangement now or online later:

  • Payments will be processed securely via Stripe; we will never store your card data.
  • Paying for a session secures time and attention, not clinical treatment, and does not alter these boundaries.
  • If a facilitator determines before starting that a session is unsuited to your current needs, you will be refunded in full.
  • Our guarantee. If you attend a group session and feel it wasn't for you, tell us why and we will refund you in full. The reason is for us to learn from, not a condition. Write to us the way you booked, or through the contact form on this site.

9 · Urgent help & crisis support

Human Labb forms and emails are not monitored for emergencies.
