We’re glad you’re here.

Why do I keep doing this?

When what we want, what we say, and what we do don’t line up, we end up fighting ourselves — when they align, that inner conflict falls away, giving us the space to be who we really are and live free.

02Who it's for

Sound familiar?

Anyone curious about how they show up in life and relationships, and wants to do it differently. You don't need to be in crisis or have any background. Just a willingness to pay attention and try something new.

The Peacekeeper

People-pleasing.

  • Conflict avoidance
  • Difficulty saying no
  • Over-apologising,
    over-accommodating

The Performer

Perfectionism.

  • Overachievement
  • Rest that feels undeserved
  • Impostor syndrome
  • Polishing so no one sees the gaps

The Controller

The need for control.

  • Micromanaging: hard to delegate, hard to depend on anyone
  • Overthinking and overplanning every scenario
  • Rattled by last-minute changes of plan

The Avoider

Procrastination.

  • Numbing out: the scroll, the series, one more episode
  • Withdrawing
  • Watching from the sidelines

03The practice

Notice autopilot. Settle. Reclaim choice.

Why this works

Real reasons, not mysticism.

Nothing here depends on belief. It works because of how human nervous systems actually behave.

01

Nervous systems settle together

02

Naming creates a gap

03

Relating is trainable

01

Autopilot is real

Most of us run patterns we didn't choose: people-pleasing, withdrawing, performing, controlling. These made sense once. But when they run unchecked, we lose choice. We stop responding and start reacting.

02

The goal: alignment

This isn't about being "better" or "fixed". It's about noticing when you're on autopilot and reclaiming the ability to choose your response: in real time, with real people. Alignment between what you feel, what you think, and what you do.

03

The method: small experiments

Each session is a structured container of short, repeatable experiments. Setting a boundary. Making a request. Saying what's true for you. Noticing what happens in your body when someone says something surprising. Nothing is forced.

In the room

What we practise

  • Curiosity
  • Catching autopilot in real time
  • Regulation and choice under pressure
  • Honest expression without oversharing or armouring
  • Clearer connection: less guessing, more truth

What to expect

  • Short, structured exercises you can repeat
  • You can always pass: observing is participating
  • A respectful, consent-first container
  • Nothing to fix. Nothing to perform.
  • You leave with something practical

Human Labb is a practice space, not therapy, and not a substitute for it. We don't diagnose or treat.

Alignment between what you feel, what you think, and what you do.

Four ways people learn to stay safe in relationship: keeping everyone happy, overthinking, controlling, or pulling away. Most of us run more than one.

The Freedom Snapshot shows you which ones you lean on. It takes about five minutes.

In their own words: from this year's sessions, and from rooms going back to 1999.

I felt a little anxious before, but after this practice I felt so calmed.

"

My body's more active and getting involved is easier now.

Anlan Liu · Shanghai
"

When my partner shared how much emotional weight he carries, I felt the sincerity and beauty of human connection... This practice helped me build a stronger connection with myself.

Participant · Shanghai
"

I have been in limbo for 13 years. Derrick gave me the push I needed. I discovered more about myself than I believed possible.

Seminar attendee · Brisbane, 1999
"

Professional, passionate & caring, very connected to participants

Rob Henderson · Brisbane, 1999
"

(I liked the) energy, good feelings of empathy, understanding, encouragement. A lot of good information and we all need to encourage and believe we can make a difference in others and ourselves.

John Logar · Brisbane, 1999
